Personal

From my childhood house in Trogen (AR) in Eastern Switzerland, one can see over the lake of Constance far into Southern Germany. I guess, my mental horizon adapted to the visual one. After an undergraduate diploma (la licence, the former Swiss university system) in International Relations, I was attracted by issues of economics development and policy. I spent some time with different UN agencies and at the South African Embassy to Switzerland before returning to university for a PhD. Since then I have greatly enjoyed combining academic level research with more practical work related to economic policy.

After spending six years in Washington DC, I now live in Zurich, Switzerland.

When it comes to Hobbys, there are mainly three: family, cooking and sports. I am a devoted father and greatly value time with the family.

Besides this, I am a "scientifique dans l'âme"; also in the kitchen. For long, I had cookbooks on my night table and a range of cooking thermometors. Favorite dishes wary with the season. But good food is always best enjoyed with family and friends.
